ABOUT ME
My name is Kareem Harrigan. I grew up on the small island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Growing up, I spent most of my time as a kid over at my grandmother’s house. It was the best place to hang out since all my cousins were there and the neighborhood was lively. Grandma’s house was filled with music, laughter, friends, games and most of all: family. It was in this neighborhood I learned to become the strong leader I am today.
Apartment 240 in Hidden Valley Building 13 is where my love for design all started. Culture is everything and there was plenty where I grew up to keep me inspired to create. There were times I would sit on my grandmother’s stoop and find inspiration, sitting and sketching for hours until my pencil would become a little snub. In my senior year of high school, the Art Institute came to my school for a visit and I learned that I could actually earn a degree and a living with graphic design. I made a decision then to pursue art. Eventually I moved to Florida for school. I got a job in retail at DSW while I was attending school to pay the bills. After I graduated, driven by practical matters, I started working full-time at DSW and cheated on my first love: design.
But that wasn’t my passion. After dedicating 12+ years to the retail management world, I finally reconnected with my true love and have not looked back since. I am a strong believer in learning and growing and embracing opportunities where I can do both while helping others along. I am always looking for the next challenge. I bring 150 percent effort every day to the work I do. The use of proper design principles and techniques along with my management experience allow me to perform at a high level and create quality work. Working as a freelance designer since 2004, I have had the opportunity to work with various clients throughout my career.
In my spare time, I love going to church, spending time with family, going on foodie adventures, exercising, reading, watching football, traveling and catching up on my favorite shows. I love the design and development process of taking concepts and ideas and turning them into recognizable brands. As an entrepreneur myself, I recognize the importance of having a strong attention to detail. I use that dedication to bring a client’s vision to reality. My overall mission is to provide high quality service that combines creativity with value, while establishing successful relationships: working with you to fully understand your business and your target audience.
